Collectif and then...: La preuve par 3

Collectif and then...

La preuve par 3 is an aerial show performed by three women, with disciplines including vertical rope, slack rope, double cloud (static and swinging) – and inventive variations on these. The piece explores the identity of its performers as aerialists, looking particularly at the theme of trust – both the trust that exists between the artists on stage as well as the trust of the artists in their audience, their ropes and themselves.

The identities, stories and innermost fears and desires of the artists are explored through the ropes. With them they find the stories they want to tell – and the stories that must me told. Ropes will draw images and entangle the performers. Bodies will become entwined to the point where we don't know whose foot or arm is whose. Three strong women, who feel good in the air, will explore their inexplicable need to always climb higher, even though they know that gravity will always win. How does the relationship between them build to the point where they can put their lives in each other's hands?

Looking for

Support: The company are aiming to create a full-length version (50-60 mins) of La preuve par 3 for winter 2013. They are looking for residencies and rehearsal space, as well as production, managing and financial support.

Technical specifications

Brief description of set:
The set will be very simple, with a focus on the aerial equipment. At the moment the company plan to have 2 cloud swings, 2 corde lisse, some ropes on a pulley system. They have not decided on a final configuration for the ropes, or on a number of rigging points as they are still in development and researching the simplest and most interesting formation.
Min dimensions: 6.0m wide, 6.0m deep, 7.0m high
Rigging:
Rigging tbc, but the piece will definitely need: a truss (5m or longer), on which the performers can swing (ie must be a fixed bar or tensioned with 4 floor/wall points). Along this truss the company will fix a number of other aerial points including a pulley system, a corde lisse, 2 cloudswings (4 points) and possibly 2 or 3 more ropes.
