Back at Jacksons Lane by popular demand, So & So Circus Theatre's Backgammon for Beginners follows the story – or what's left of it – of Roshan, an Iranian man who came to England somewhere in the 70s, maybe fleeing the revolution, maybe not, maybe with a suitcase full of possessions, maybe only with a backgammon board. Taking a nuanced and sophisticated approach in exploring the grey areas of family history, the show fulfils, at last, the promise of the UK graduate aesthetic by synthesising narrative theatre with an abstract use of circus' language. You need to get all over this.
