• The Saison Foundation: International Project Support Programme

    The Saison Foundation

Privately founded by Seiji Tsutsumi, a major business magnate who from middle age has also managed to pursue a successful career as a writer and poet, The Saison Foundation offers long-term, broad-based support to contemporary Japanese theatre and dance.

As one of the Foundation's goals is to foster international exchange it also runs an International Project Support Programme that offers grants and/or use of the Foundation's space at Morishita Studio in Tokyo for 'international theatre, dance, or performance art collaboration projects with not-for-profit contemporary Japanese performing artists and/or companies, including creative workshops and rehearsals held during the working process'.

In order to be eligible applicants must have already established an artistic partnership with a Japanese artist/group that will be explored through the project. The activities of proposed projects can span up to three years.

For more information on the Programme and on how to apply see here. The Foundation also runs a Visiting Fellows Programme.
