Circus Oz have just announced that they will receive $10 million from the Victorian Government (joining a previous $3 million of State funding) for the Stage II development of a new HQ in Collingwood, Melbourne.
Lovell Chen Architects will be restoring an old Tafe building and adapting it to meet the demands of circus; an outdoor space will also be used for flying and outdoor events.
Oz will of course be using the space partly to devise and rehearse their large-scale touring shows, but sounds as though the new building will be slanted more towards social circus than professional training. We'll see, though. It's due to open in 2012.
