If you were out to, you could build quite a collection of aerial performances (oddly, particularly rope performances) that take as their inspiration Italo Calvino's Baron in the Trees, and here's another: Ramesh Meyyappan's multi-disciplinary solo interpretation, Snails and Ketchup, taking in aerial (corde lisse), object animation and physical theatre. Ramesh has had a rich career as an actor and physical performer but this is his first work in circus – so will be interesting to see where his old and new performance vocabularies meet and engage.
