Applications are now open for Under the Radar 2011, a strand of new work at that's inspired by 'the concepts of opportunity, escapades, anarchy, disturbing beauty and diversity'.
There are two separate divisions: In-Theatre, programming ticketed work in traditional venues, and Street Feats, which collects outdoor work and anything developed for public spaces (the street, shopfronts, site-specific locations). Historically, both have been friendly to contemporary circus.
There's a long Information Kit that covers eligibility and what the festival offers, but the most salient points are that to be eligible projects need to be either a premiere, a festival premiere, or a significant reworking of a piece that's been seen in Brisbane before. In-Theatre shows get box office takings, unticketed Street Feats shows receive a set fee based on the average income of an In-Theatre performance. Both get technical and production support.
Deadline for applications is 6pm on 16 February 2011. For an information kit and to apply online see here.
