The Brink, the year-round circus programme at Brisbane's Judith Wright Centre of Community Arts (JWCoCA – meant, I hope, to be pronounced as a single phonetic), has opened applications for its two-strand Creations initiative.
Supported by Australian contemporary circus giant Circa, Creations is a programme to support the development of new and existing circus and physical theatre work through two separate bursaries: 'Creations – New' and 'Creations – Development'. The New fund is geared towards creating fresh work for a short run at JWCoCA's Shopfront Space, while the Development strand is a luxurious week-long paid residency at either the CIRCA Training Centre Studio or the Judith Wright Centre Theatre Rehearsal Room.
There's a lot of in-kind support offered, plus a chunk of artist's fees. The programme is 'open to artists, collectives, ensembles and not-for-profit companies that wish to create or present contemporary circus work'.
Deadline for applications is 18 February 2011. For more info concerning what's on offer and an application form see here.
