French-Canadian megacircus Cirque du Soleil return to the Royal Albert Hall in January with the UK premiere of their new show Totem. Last year they were at the RAH with Varekai and the year before that Quidam, shows with distinct characteristics and material but sharing the Cirque style – glossy but shallow, expensive but a little tasteless, featuring incredible skills and all-round the campest, most ridiculous and bizarre costumes ever seen. It's event theatre – at a very plush venue, with an interval; dress up.
