So & So Circus Theatre are looking for an acrobatic performer to work on their new show, Backgammon for Beginners, a piece following 'the stories of Javad, a man who became trapped in London, following the Iranian revolution in 1979. His attempts to comprehend the cultural differences between his past and his present lead to jumping out of hotel windows, introducing backgammon to London bars, facing the terror of the National Front and stopping trains with his bare hands.'
Applicants with a strong acrobatic background are preferred, but the company are also willing to consider performers from other circus disciplines or from dance or theatre if they've got the potential to pick up an acrobatic vocabulary.
Backgammon for Beginners will be directed by Mish Weaver, with reherasal dates 12-23 September and 14 November – 16 December 2011 and 2-11 January 2012. The show will then tour the UK 15 April – 2 June 2012 (tbc). Applicants need to commit to all these periods.
Fee for rehearsals is £400 p/w for eight weeks, and rehearsals will take place in London (six weeks) and Yorkshire (two weeks). Accommodation can be provided if necessary.
