• Circus Artists Wanted for Olympic 2012 Ceremonies

    At the behest of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympics Games, Sheffield's Greentop is helping to find professional circus artists to perform at the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

    Blurb sez: 'The Ceremonies are creatively led and whilst predominantly populated by volunteer performers, there are a number of scripted roles and choreographed sections which require the skills of professional artists. Both artistic directors [Danny Boyle and Kim Gavin] are keen to include artists of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds in their casting.'

    Rehearsals for the Opening Ceremony run from 31 March 2012 through to the Ceremony night on 27 July 2012. Rehearsals for the Closing Ceremony start on 24 April 2012, and culminate on 12 August 2012.

    The specialist skills and areas of interest include, but are not limited to: 'Aerialists, Strap work, Bungee, Power skip/Extreme pogo, Acrobats/Tumblers, Wire work, Contortionists, Jugglers, Roller skates, Trick Cyclists'.
