Circus Next, the Europe-wide programme of artistic and financial support for emerging circus artists (which was formerly known as Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe), has opened applications for the 2012/2013 project selections.
Circus Next, like JTCE before it, has a two stage selection – from the written applications twelve artists/companies are selected to present a twenty-minute extract of their project (which has to be a new project) in front of an international jury, with five then chosen as laureates. The laureates receive a support grant of around 10,000€ and are offered residencies with partner venues, then after six months of creation are invited to present a further extract of their project at a presentation in Paris (in front of about 250 industry professionals).
For more information on the project, a calendar showing the different stages of the process, and an application form see the Circus Next website. Deadline for applications is 5 August 2012 (a long time away, but it's a big form...).
