Imaginarius, an annual outdoor arts festival in Santa Maria da Feira, is currently inviting applications for its Off programme Mais Imaginarius, to be held 24-26 May 2013. The Off programme is an opportunity for young creators to exhibit their work in the public space, but three of the presenting artists/companies will also be selected for an offer of a residency in Portugal in 2014. This residency, accompanied by a production budget, will focus on the creation of a new piece of work that can premiere as part of the festival's main programme in 2014.
Artists of any nationality can apply, individually or as part of a group. Mais Imaginarius will favour 'projects promoting independent thinking, taking and assuming the risks of experimental creation and creating an informed and sustained artistic praxis' and those proposals that 'confront local culture and community with contemporary artistic languages, thus valuing concepts that will have a specific implementation in Santa Maria da Feira’s public space'.
There is no fee for appearing in the Off programme, but the festival will (with limits) cover travel expenses, as well as accommodation and meals.
