Interesting! Led by On The Road Productions, the Nomadic Village is a project to create a temporary, mobile artistic community – with a bus as a town hall – at Demesne Mill in County Durham. Nomadic artists are invited to join the village for an open exchange and creation process that will culminate in a public presentation and a travelling exhibition.
The Nomadic Village will be in residence in County Durham 21 May – 2 June 2012, and the organisers are now putting out an open call for 'nomadic artists from all over the world, whose practice is rooted in themes surrounding nomadism; those who intentionally displace themselves to seek encounters that not only influence their work but form it; artists who work without borders and constantly respond to situations, places and people along their journey.' They're particularly interested to hear from artists who can bring their own mobile travel/live/work structure. There's no fee, but meals are provided and there's a grant that companies with high travel costs can apply for.
