Without Walls, a consortium of seven UK outdoor arts festivals, is currently inviting artists and companies to apply for Research & Development support for the development of new outdoor work for presentation in 2014 or 2015.
The R&D grants, which give artists the 'opportunity to explore new ideas as part of the development process, before committing to a production', will be prioritised for applications meeting one or more of three focuses: large-scale work (for audiences of 2000 and more); work by culturally diverse, and deaf and disabled artists; and work that reflects on the centenary of the start of World War I.
Without Walls has an overall budget of around £25,000 to invest, and expects to support between two and five proposals – awarding £2000-5000 for small-scale projects and up to £8000 for large-scale projects.
