Directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, whose work was last seen in the UK in the form of the opera L'Amour de Loin, Donka is a circus piece inspired by the plays and diaries of Anton Chekhov. Pasca worked previously with Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize, and on the evidence of L'Amour de Loin has some of the same style, producing large-scale pieces that choreograph the artists as part of a spectacle of beauty. Who knows, though? It's likely to be impressive and high-budget, at least, and there's plenty of truth to be found in Chekhov's work...
