By all accounts the darkest of the recent run of Gandini Juggling shows – which have all themselves had their dark notes – Cløwns and Queens subverts the images of classical circus in piecing together something strange, difficult, bodily and perverse. As the company put it: 'Cløwns and Queens is dirty circus. Clown eroticism. Humiliation as entertainment. Pre-Raphaelite hula hooping. Horizontal juggling... This is a brave show for brave audiences.'
