Bristol school Circomedia are launching a new programme called Circus Shorts, designed to promote work no more than 15-20 minutes in length through a public performance as part of the school's autumn programme.
Submissions for Circus Shorts can be extracts from full-length pieces, self-contained works, or shorter pieces which the artist/company would like to develop into a longer performance. Successful candidates will be offered: a four-day residency at Circomedia (for rehearsals / R&D on existing or new work), a feedback session with Bim Mason (creative director at Circomedia), and £150 towards expenses. The Circus Shorts presentation will then take place 24 October 2014 with an audience of key industry figures and members of the public.
To apply send a short proposal (max 800 words) which includes a description of the piece you would like to present and information on what you would use the residency for to matt@circomedia.com Along with the proposal include a company or artist history/CV (previous shows, touring history if applicable), technical specifications for the piece, a link to an online video of the piece or work-in-progress of the piece you would like to present (plus info on any opportunities to see the work live), and any other online links (website, blog, etcetera). Deadline for applications is 30 April 2014.
