Founded in 2009, in the past the Nomadic Village has formed an annual two-week settlement for artists on the road – a place for travelling practitioners to meet and exchange. In 2015 the Village will itself be on the move: between May-August 2015 participating artists will track their movements across Europe via GPS, coming together at three separate points to form Villages and give public performances.
Those wishing to apply need to have their own mobile living space and must fund their own travel costs. At the three settlements the Village will provide: facilities, including electricity, toilets, running water, and a wireless connection; dinners prepared either by hosts or participants; and contacts with the local community. The organisers are interested in projects responding to themes of: nomadism, displacement, dislocation, working without borders, exploring places, encouraging meeting and interacting with strangers, and seeking the unexpected.
