Arranged by PASS and ZEPA – two large-scale European projects that promote touring / artistic exchange among networks of French and UK venues – the Contemporary Circus in Rural Settings seminar is a one-day event aimed at artists, programmers/producers, and educators. It takes place at Lighthouse, Poole on 12 September 2014, 10.30am - 4.30pm.
For artists the seminar will cover 'considerations when making and touring work for rural towns/villages or landscape in France and the UK'; for programmers it is an opportunity to 'discover and share ideas about how conditions could be changed to enable more work to be presented in rural locations'; and for educators it's a chance to 'hear about the different contexts in which work is made and presented and how this can enhance your practice'.
The seminar is hosted as part of the Inside Out Dorset Festival, produced by Activate, and after the seminar attendees will be able to see the UK premiere of CirkVOST's new work BOO, an outdoor performance played out on a 15m high structure made from bamboo sticks.
The seminar is free to attend. To book a place contact Sarah Colwell, PASS' project manager, on sarah_colwell@btinternet.com or call +44 (0)1305 260954.
