Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, Lyric Hammersmith, Watford Palace Theatre, and Latitude Festival have come together to offer four commissioning opportunities to theatre makers who want to create new and exciting work for outdoor spaces in 2014.
The four new commissioned works will tour to Theatre in the Square, GDIF2014, Imagine Watford Festival, and Latitude Festival for performances in June and July.
Proposals need to be suited to a wide range of outdoor spaces and to audiences who will be both transient and fixed throughout performances as part of overall festival activity, and should be ‘theatre for all ages’. Proposals should also have strong staging, with highly physical and visual elements, and should be created for daytime presentation (i.e. without lighting). The optimum length is no more than 30 minutes, and performances should be able to be installed and struck on the same day.
Each of the four successful artists/companies will receive a fee of £6000 for the delivery of the commission and performances. This is an all-inclusive fee that should cover any commissioning costs, artistic costs for rehearsals and performing, physical production costs, stage management costs, and personal travel costs.
