The Zimmermann & de Perrot working method has been to interpret circus on or within large-scale sets that move to unbalance the performance and change its rules: in Gaff Aff Martin Zimmermann (the clown/acrobat/performer to de Perrot's DJ) stood on a giant, rotating turntable; in Öper Öpis the stage itself tilted and ratcheted from side to side; and in Chouf Ouchouf, the company's piece made with the Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger, the close walls and streets of the Medina formed and reformed from a series of tall pillars that glided silently over the stage. Hans Was Heiri, as you can see above, is very much the next in the series: a piece for seven performers played out within a house that can turn through 360 degrees.
