Sideshow has heard good things about Du Goudron et des Plumes (Tar and Feathers), the new and structurally spectacular show from (fairly) young French talent Mathurin Bolze. It's an easy sort of a comparison to make, but for English audiences perhaps Bolze will be closest to James Thiérrée: Du Goudron et des Plumes has the same shipwreck narrative that framed La Veillée des Abysses, and is played out on a similar scale and with similar (large) resources, but more than that Bolze is a magnetic and extraordinary performer – as an acrobat, as an actor, as a person only walking across the stage. You should go.
