Sideways Arts are looking for three aerial performers – with strong physical theatre and characterisation / clowning skills – to join the research and development of a new contemporary circus show about climate change for family audiences.
The company are looking for three performers of various playing ages (one a younger / child character), but all applicants should have aerial skills in at least one of the following disciplines: single or doubles trapeze, Chinese pole, cradle. Applicants must also have good stage presence, an interest in exploring themes of climate change, and experience in / a keen motivation for devising new ensemble work on alternative apparatus. Sideways are also looking for 'a team player who is willing to help with get in and get outs'.
The R&D period is for four weeks 28 July – 24 August 2014 and includes a showings at Jacksons Lane and Shambala Festival. Applicants must be available for the whole period, including the weekend of 22-24 August when performances will take place. A weekly fee of £430 will be paid as per ITC guidelines. The show is expected to go on tour following development.
