An initiative put together by ISAN, Stockton International Riverside Festival, Event International, CREATE, and Remarkable Productions, Gone in 20 Minutes is a new national showcase that will support ten emerging artists/companies to create new work and projects. These will then be shown as works-in-progress at SIRF and CREATE festival (to a mixed industry and public audience) and compete for a jury and audience prize.
The showcase is intended for emerging artists and companies working in the outdoor arts sector (whether in street arts, circus, dance, visual arts or anything else) and is looking to support small- to mid-scale work. With the involvement of CREATE, Gi20 is tied in with London 2012, and the aim is that five of the showcase companies will come from the host boroughs of the 2012 Olympics (Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest) and five from the rest of England.
At stake is a £2000 development budget for each of the selected artists/companies, travel and accommodation expenses for the festival showcases, peer to peer mentoring facilitated by Frank Wilson (Event International) and Julian Rudd (Remarkable Productions), and two prizes of £2000 each for the jury and audience awards. Informally, it's likely to bring a lot else besides.
Deadline for applications is 4 May 2011. More information here and application form here.
