For the third consecutive year, Circus Space are looking to appoint a director or choreographer in residence – a practitioner near the beginning of their career who will be given the opportunity to learn how to develop, choreograph and direct contemporary circus performance.
The role is 'designed to combine observing, shadowing and active research with a number of hands on opportunities to work with circus students and professional circus artists'. The appointed director/choreographer will also receive funding for a programme of R & D in Circus Space's Creation Studio – to explore ideas developed during their tenure or perhaps to work on a full-length production in collaboration with Circus Space.
The residency will run September 2011 - July 2012, with 72 working days spread across the year. The salary for this period is £9,950.
The residency is supported by the Leverhulme Trust. See here for a little information on the outgoing director, Catrin Osborne. Or see here for for the full information pack [PDF]. Deadline for applications is 6 July 2011.
