Close on the heels of their European Circus Charter for Hosting Circuses in Towns, Circostrada Network have published another in their series of industry guides: Organising an Artistic Event in the Public Space [PDF].
Actually a (slightly edited) translation of a 2005-2007 French guide, the document is a practical workthrough that covers the general plan of attack in occupying the public space before moving on to specific methodology that includes insurance, safety, installation, environmental concerns, etcetera. The whole thing is wrapped as well in some sweet parenthetical Frenglish about the socioeconomic benefit of street arts: 'A sector characterised by the specific nature of its action field (the urban and rural public space) and its public (de facto broader that the traditional cultural public), street arts participate in the implementation, on a Europe-wide scale, of a new solidarity (professional, social and regional) and the construction of a cohesion space.)'.
