So the shortlist for the 2011 Total Theatre Awards has been announced. The TT Awards are given out every year to recognise the best physical and visual / experimental work at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Edinburgh isn't much of a circus festival though if you look back into the TT Awards history you'll see Acrobat winning the audience choice award back in 1997; No Ordinary Angels scooping the same prize in 1999; Compagnie F/Z recognised in 2002 for Throat; and last year NoFit State winning in the physical/visual category with tabú.
This year there are two circus companies on the shortlist: Cirk La Putyka with La Putyka and All or Nothing and Strange Bird Zirkus with Uncharted Waters.
The winners will be announced 25 August 2011 at a ceremony at Fringe Central, starting 6pm.
