Produced by Crying Out Loud in partnership with Xenoki, Circus Postcards is a mini documentary series on contemporary circus screening as part of the BBC / Arts Council England project The Space, an online arts channel featuring the work of 53 commissioned projects (in Dance, Film, Literature and Spoken Word, Music, Performance & Festival, Theatre, and Visual & Media Arts) from May to October 2012.
The films already posted for Circus Postcards include a short edit of Gandini Juggling's Smashed, features on the work of the circus photographers Monica Connell (mostly Bristol artists) and Bertil Nilsson (mostly naked artists), and interviews with Ockham's Razor and the sullen Race Horse boys. More films will be added over the coming weeks.
The relevant powers are currently discussing the possibility of continuing The Space past the summer, but it's also possible that the project will end and its content will go offline – so watch Circus Postcards while you can (and while you're there check out this collection of classic Dance for Camera films from the 90s).
